“Mums” the Word

When I think about the plants that best represent Fall, I always picture Mums.

Mums seem to be a staple of the fall season because of their beautiful harvest colors. Here a few tips on picking out the best mums for your Autumn décor:

Get the best bang for your buck by choosing plants that have buds that are just beginning to open and by using darker colors because they will look good for a longer amount of time compared to lighter colors.

Keeping the soil moist is essential so be sure to check it daily. If it is sunny and warm, they will probably need daily watering. If the temperature is cooler, then watering every other day may be best. Just remember to check and see what the soil is doing and adjust watering as needed.

Be sure to remove any fading blooms to help with continuous growth throughout the season.
