Whether you water your lawn by hand, or have an irrigation system installed, there are good and bad times to water:

Simply put, watering in the middle of the day or at night are both dangerous to your lawn.

If you water during the day, you could lose up to 1/3 of the water as it evaporates too quickly which will do more harm than good to your grass. At night, the water will sit on the grass too long and could create fungus lawn diseases.

Early morning is best time to water. With low winds and little heat, watering in the early morning is the healthiest and most efficient thing you can do for your lawn.

You should also plan to water your lawn the morning before cutting grass. This will help keep your lawn stronger and tips of the grass greener when they are cut down.
